Shabana FC Secretary General, Dr. Eliphan Kerama, has announced that the club will unveil its full technical bench later this week.

Speaking during a live interview on Sporty FM on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, Dr. Kerama shared updates about the club’s technical team, player transfers, and overall progress.

He said Shabana FC has made good progress since returning to the Kenya Premier League three seasons ago after spending 17 years outside the top flight. According to him, the club has grown both on and off the pitch.

Dr. Kerama said the club now has three teams: the senior team, Shabana Youth FC, and Shabana Starlets FC.

He praised Shabana Youth FC for its strong performance in the FKF Nyanza Regional League, where the team is currently leading the table with 43 points.

He also congratulated Shabana Starlets FC for finishing the Women’s National Super League season unbeaten and earning promotion to the Kenya Women’s Premier League. He said these achievements show that the club is investing in the future.

Speaking about the technical bench, Dr. Kerama explained that Coach Bernard Mwalala left Shabana FC after receiving a better offer from Bandari FC. He was replaced by Coach Andrew Ongwae.

On the departure of Coach Peter Okidi, Dr. Kerama said the coach was not sacked. Instead, both sides agreed to part ways after facing several off-the-pitch challenges. He added that managing a community football club in Kenya is not easy and sometimes difficult decisions have to be made.

Dr. Kerama also defended the club’s recruitment policy. He said Shabana FC has built a balanced squad even though some supporters believe the club should only sign players from the local community.

He also explained that Coach Osborn Monday joined the club on a short-term contract to support Coach Andrew Ongwae because he was available and already knew the players. After his contract ended, he decided to join another club in Nairobi.

During the interview, the host, Ondieki, asked why the club had not announced any player transfers. Dr. Kerama replied that Shabana FC will keep about 90 percent of its current squad. He assured fans that key players, including Brian Michira, Kevin Omundi, and Dizzo, are still Shabana FC players and are not leaving the club.

Ondieki also asked about the club’s gate collections and financial transparency. Dr. Kerama said Shabana FC is the first football club in Kenya to publicly announce its gate collection after every home match. He said this shows the club’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Shabana FC supporters are now waiting for the official unveiling of the full technical bench later this week as the club continues preparing for the new season.
