Shabana FC are preparing for major changes ahead of the 2026/27 season as the club plans to strengthen both the squad and the technical bench.

According to the club’s Secretary General, Elizaphan Kerama, the team will release up to 15 players and sign 10 new ones to improve the squad.

Kerama said Shabana had 32 players last season, but some of them did not make a big contribution to the team. He added that the club wants to have a smaller but more competitive squad in the new campaign.

“In the just-concluded season, we had 32 players. However, some of the players did not contribute much. In the upcoming season, we want to have a lean but competitive squad,” Kerama told the Star.

The club has also confirmed that defender Wycliffe Omondi has completed his move to Nairobi United. Kerama said the club did everything possible to keep the player, but the transfer could not be stopped.

“We tried our best to keep him, but it was not possible,” he said.

Despite reports linking several key players with moves away from the club, Kerama dismissed the rumours and insisted that most of the important players will remain at Shabana.

Changes are also expected on the technical bench. Kerama revealed that the club is in talks with two foreign coaches and one local tactician as they search for a substantive head coach.

He also confirmed that Osborne Monday has left the club after the expiry of his short-term contract.

“Monday was on a short-term contract, which ended at the beginning of June. In the next two or three weeks, we shall unveil a technical bench,” Kerama said.

Shabana fans will now be waiting to see the new signings and the coaching team as the club aims to build a stronger side for the upcoming season.
