Nyamira-based Kemera All Stars have expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to replay their Governors Cup Kemera Championship Playoffs clash against Hoods FC following a controversial abandoned match at Kiendege Grounds. The fixture, which had recently been played, saw Kemera All Stars leading 1-0 before the match was brought to an early end under unclear circumstances. Kemera Want Original Result to Stand Kemera All Stars insist that the result on the day should be upheld, arguing that they were already in the lead and deserved to be awarded the victory. According to the club, Hoods FC should be held responsible for the abandonment of the match, and based on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) rulebook regarding match interruptions and abandonments, Kemera believes they should have been granted a win rather than forced into a replay. Club officials maintain that the rules are clear and that the responsibility for the premature ending of the match lies with Hoods FC. Hoods FC Appeal for Replay On the other hand, Hoods FC argued that the match ended prematurely and that a fair conclusion was never reached, prompting them to file an appeal with the tournament organizers. Their position was that the game could not be considered complete under the circumstances, and therefore a replay was the most appropriate solution. Organizers Order Fresh Replay at Neutral Venue After reviewing both sides of the dispute, the tournament’s coordinating body ruled in favor of a replay. The replay has been scheduled for tomorrow morning at Tombe Grounds, a neutral venue chosen to ensure fairness for both teams. Importantly, the match will start afresh at 0-0, meaning Kemera’s earlier 1-0 lead has been nullified. Kemera Reluctant to Honor Fixture Kemera All Stars have openly voiced their frustration with the ruling and are reportedly reluctant to honor the replay fixture. The club feels the decision ignores the circumstances of the original abandonment and undermines their efforts from the first match. With tensions high and uncertainty surrounding whether Kemera will show up for the replay, all eyes will now be on Tombe Grounds. Time will tell whether the fixture proceeds as planned or if the controversy deepens further.
