The leadership wrangles at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) continue to intensify, with Eastern Region NEC member Charles Njagi now reportedly being lined up for the Vice President position amid the ongoing power struggle involving FKF President Hussein Mohammed and Vice President Macdonald Mariga.

Sources within Kenyan football circles indicate that internal tensions at FKF have escalated significantly following recent disagreements at the top level of the federation, with factions emerging around key decision-makers.

Charles Njagi, who has remained a notable figure within the National Executive Committee (NEC), is now being viewed as a possible solution to restore balance within the federation’s leadership structure. His growing influence within FKF has sparked fresh discussions about a possible reshuffle in the top ranks.

The reported move comes at a time when the relationship between Hussein Mohammed and Macdonald Mariga appears to be under increasing strain, with both camps pushing for control over the direction of Kenyan football administration.

Meanwhile, Hussein Mohammed and Charles Njagi have already left the country for Vancouver, Canada, where they are set to represent Kenya at the FIFA General Congress 2026 scheduled for April 30.

Speaking on the trip, Njagi emphasized that the FIFA Congress offers an important opportunity to engage with global football leaders and gain valuable insights that could help transform Kenyan football.

He noted that the experience would provide guidance on governance, development, and strategic planning, all of which are critical for the growth of the sport in Kenya.

“The FIFA General Congress presents us with a valuable chance to learn, network, and seek guidance that can help us steer Kenyan football to greater heights,” Njagi reportedly stated.

The FIFA Congress is one of the most significant gatherings in world football, bringing together federation leaders from across the globe to discuss governance, policy, development, and the future of the game.

Back home, however, attention remains firmly fixed on the unfolding FKF leadership battle, with stakeholders eager to see whether the federation will find stability or slide deeper into internal conflict.

As the situation develops, Kenyan football fans will be watching closely to see whether Charles Njagi’s rise signals a new chapter in FKF leadership or simply adds another layer to the federation’s ongoing political drama.
