Political temperatures in Kisii County continue to rise after Bassi Boitang’are MCA Thomas Obare responded strongly to remarks made by Kisii Governor Simba Arati regarding the performance of some Members of County Assembly. The exchange follows a meeting held at the Agricultural Training Centre (ATC), where Governor Arati reportedly told village elders that some MCAs had failed to deliver development in their wards. Speaking shortly after the Governor’s remarks, Obare dismissed the claims that some MCAs are not working for their people. Instead, he called for a focus on practical service delivery and accountability. In a move aimed at backing his argument with evidence, the MCA released a list of road projects that he says were officially submitted to the Roads Department back in November 2025 for consideration before the close of the 2025/2026 financial year. Obare insisted that development records are clear and documented, adding that the focus should not be on blame games but on ensuring that projects already proposed are implemented for the benefit of residents. The latest exchange also reflects the growing political tension within Kisii County leadership as leaders position themselves ahead of future political battles while trying to maintain support at the grassroots level. For residents, however, the bigger concern remains simple: they want roads improved, services delivered, and leaders working together instead of exchanging accusations.
