Bronson Nsubuga’s Unusual Route to Kenya Police

With the Kenyan Premier League transfer window now closed, Bronson Nsubuga’s move has emerged as one of the more interesting transfer stories of the summer.

The Shabana FC winger had attracted interest from Kenya Police FC after putting together an impressive season. Police were keen to bring him on board, but Shabana were not willing to sell one of their key players to another Kenyan Premier League club.

For a while, it looked like the move was dead.

Things changed when Nsubuga asked to leave Shabana, reportedly citing family reasons and his desire to return to Uganda.

Shabana accepted his request and allowed him to join Ugandan side Blacks Power FC for a modest compensation fee.

But that was not the end of the story.

Because Nsubuga could not complete two permanent transfers during the same transfer window, Blacks Power eventually loaned him to Kenya Police for the 2026/27 season.

In a rather unexpected twist, Police ended up getting the player they had wanted all along.

Shabana reportedly objected to the arrangement, but by then the deal had already been completed.

So, instead of moving directly from Shabana to Kenya Police, Nsubuga has taken a rather unusual route—Shabana to Blacks Power in Uganda, and then on loan to Kenya Police.

For Police, the important thing is that they have finally secured a winger they clearly valued.

For Shabana, however, the situation leaves a different feeling, especially after their initial decision not to sell the player to a direct KPL rival.

Football transfers can sometimes take unexpected turns, and Nsubuga’s move is a perfect example.
