Kenya continues to make its mark on the global football stage after former Harambee Starlets defender Terry Ouko was appointed by FIFA as the Sustainability and Human Rights Venue Manager for the upcoming FIFA World Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA. The appointment is a major achievement for Ouko, who has built a strong reputation both on and off the football pitch. In her new role, she will be responsible for ensuring that FIFA’s standards on human rights, safeguarding, inclusion, anti-discrimination, and environmental sustainability are followed during all matches held at the stadium. This means Ouko will help create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for fans, players, officials, and staff throughout the tournament. Over the years, Ouko has become one of Kenya’s most respected football administrators. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Kenya Footballers’ Welfare Association (KEFWA) and is also a member of the FIFPRO Board. In addition, she holds leadership roles in futsal, beach soccer, and youth and women’s football development within Africa.
